The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a useful tool to help businesses evaluate their IT associates. The chart is based on extensive impartial research. It compares competitors from the IT industry, classifying them into leaders, challengers, visionaries or niche players.

Learning how to assess IT companies and the metrics used is important as a decision making tool. It’s especially important when building up new client relationships. Evaluating Power BI using the Gartner tool enables one to grasp its potential and current usefulness before purchase.

The Winners

The Magic Quadrant summarises a company’s vision and execution of that vision. That vision is compared to market standards and other technologies in the same category.

Niche Players are in the lower left quadrant of the chart. They are companies which specialise in a small section of the entire market. They do not present a clear vision for expanding. Examples of niche players are: Alibaba Cloud and IBM.
