Educating All
The University of Central Lancashire is like many using Microsoft Teams to attend lectures however they have gone above and beyond to deliver education to all their students. They are using Microsoft Translate to help students whose first language is not English. They are also using volunteers to deliver lectures in British sign language. To assist this effort, Microsoft equipped all their teaching staff with Surface devices. In the space of just two weeks all their on-campus delivery was transformed into online causes allowing them to continue to educate all 28,000 students.

‘RE:Surface’ Live Music Delivered by Microsoft
RE:Surface is a new streaming platform developed by Microsoft to bring live music to everyone. The service will kick off with a performance by singer song writer Jade Bird on the 29th of May. RE:Surface will be available via Mixer, Microsoft’s music streaming service. Jade Birds recent tour was cancelled with 6 weeks of shows to go ‘I’ve had to completely update my approach to getting my music out there. I’m a singer-songwriter and my tech skills aren’t the best, which is why the Re:Surface project is so good for me. Microsoft has created a concept and a blueprint that’s really easy to use and it means I can continue to do what I do best, but collaborate with a number of other creative people who can evolve my gigs, taking them to a whole new level.” – Jade Bird. Microsoft plan on streaming many more shows as the lockdown continues, “By pairing the power and creative potential of every Microsoft Surface device, the Re:Surface project will not only help artists to resurface cancelled gigs but we’ll help them to achieve more than they ever thought might be possible through the creation of an entirely new way of interacting with their audience during live, virtual performances.” – Kate Write, Director of UK & Ireland Category Management Consumer Devices at Microsoft.
